Irish Open Veterans Tennis Championships to be held in Leinster

With a prize fund in excess of €3,000 there is huge interest in this years Irish Open Veterans Tennis Championship sponsored by Walsh Western International. The Championship, which will take place from 3 rd –7 th June in Greystones Lawn Tennis Club in Co Wicklow , has been in existence for the past 20 years.

The age categories for entry are over 35's, 45's, 50's, 55's, 60's, 65's, 70's and over 75's and players may only enter two events in the relevant age category. The entry fee for singles is €12 and €10 for doubles. Closing date for entries is Monday 24 th May at 6pm and entry forms can be found at www.greystonestennis.com or at your nearest Tennis Club.

There is a Gala Dinner Dance with Champagne reception on Saturday 5 th June in Greystones Lawn Tennis Club. The Gala dinner, with music by ‘Dog Ruff', is limited to 100 guests. Tickets need to be booked on registration and cost €45 per person.

Each year the Championship takes place in one of the four provinces in different tennis clubs around Ireland. The Championships attracts big numbers of ex Irish Team players and amateurs alike from all over Ireland and further afield. In the past, players have travelled from Norway, America, Spain and France to compete. Already, seven players from Portugal have registered for this years Veterans Championship.
