400% GROWTH AT WALSH WESTERN LEADS TO NEW SITES IN UK AND BENELUX

400 per cent growth over the past two years has led Walsh Western International (WWI) to open two new sites in the UK and Benelux, expanding its existing operations. The new sites will handle the continued growth and allow the company, a specialist in the management and distribution of high value goods, to pursue its ambitious plans for growth throughout the European region.

The new UK site at Red Lane in Coventry, which totals over 100,000 sq. ft. (9,500 sq.m), has been earmarked for the development of specialist value-added fulfilment and reverse logistics services. It will handle clients in the high tech and healthcare technology sectors throughout the UK. WWI has invested heavily in the site to develop it into a high tech sortation operation, complementing the existing storage facility at Cross Point Business Park.

Phil Cocking, managing director of WWI's UK operations, said, "The UK operation has grown by 27 per cent in the first quarter of this year and the new site will allow us to significantly enhance the services we can offer our customers. The UK is a key strategic growth market for WWI and expanding our presence in Coventry will allow us to expand our customer base."

Rapid growth at WWI's Benelux operation has lead to the company opening a second site at Tilburg, totalling 2,500 sqm (28,000 sq. ft.). This site is dedicated to providing a pan-European reverse logistics solution to a major customer. Further expansion of the company's existing Tilburg site by an additional 4500 sq.m (50,000 sq. ft.) will bring the total site size to over 25,000 sq.m. This site will continue to service high technology customers with a variety of fulfilment and transportation services.

Marcel Reinders, managing director of WWI's Benelux operations, commented, "We have significantly enhanced our product and servicing offerings in Benelux in the last 12-18 months which has resulted in an increased amount of new business. Expansion will allow us to provide the best possible service to our customers and give us the ability to scale up rapidly as needed. We will be looking at further expansion in the Benelux region in the short term."
